In a survey conducted in February 2023 in India, 23 percent of the respondents rated the union budget 5 on a scale of 5, whereas 21 percent rated it 3.5. Aiming to cut down on the fiscal deficit in the next financial year, the union budget has slashed subsidies on food, fertilizer, and petroleum. On average, the ratings stood at 3.38 on a scale of 5.
