Debt rate in the Nordic countries 2012-2022, by country
In 2022, Iceland had the highest debt rate of the Nordic countries, followed by Finland. At the beginning of the decade, Iceland's debt rate was almost 134 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP), but it had decreased to 68 percent in 2022. Finland's debt rate, on the other hand, increased from just above 50 percent in 2012 to 67 percent in 2021. Debt rates of the three other Nordic countries were more stable, and were forecast to be between 30 and 40 percent in 2022.
