U.S.: Frequency of cycling for transport by age 2022

Among Americans who cycled for transportation purposes in 2022, young people between three and 17 years old were more likely to ride their bike regularly than adults who were more likely to ride their bike for transport only occasionally. According to a 2022 survey, half of adults, who cycled for transport, had only cycled on one to five days in the previous twelve months.

The data represents responses to the question " How many of those days did you participate in each of the following types of bicycling?" among those who cycled for transport.

*For the 2022 edition of the survey, a total of 15,871 adults living in the United States were surveyed. Data on an additional 8,345 youth between the ages of 3 and 17 was collected by surveying respondents on young people living in their household. The survey was carried out in English.

Survey results were weighted for age, gender, region, income, and race and ethnicity to correspond to the 2021 population estimates of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.

Totals may add up to more than 100 percent due to rounding
