Paying for electricity with no electricity meter in Nigeria 2023, by method & region
Based on a survey conducted in Nigeria in 2023, 72 percent of the North Central and the South East respondents with no electricity meter at home paid for power via estimated billing and/or direct billing. Furthermore, around 40 percent of the respondents in the South South and the South West reported using a generator for power. On the other hand, the North East had the highest percentage using solar energy. Overall, 43 percent of the respondents did not have a power meter at home.
