Electricity capacity in France 2023, by energy source
Nuclear is the leading energy source in France by installed capacity. In 2023, nuclear installed capacity amounted to 61.4 gigawatts. This represents over 40 percent of the country's total installed electricity capacity. Hydropower followed, being the leading renewable source, with an installed capacity of 25.7 gigawatts. By comparison, bioenergy (or renewable thermal and waste) had the smallest capacity, at 2.2 gigawatts.
