Most common reasons for not buying a pre-owned home in Japan FY 2021
A preference for new buildings was the leading reason for not buying a second-hand home in Japan, a survey conducted between September and November 2022 found. Over 57 percent of households that built a new home in the fiscal year 2021 stated they felt more comfortable in a new building. Around 30 percent decided against a used home because of high cost of remodeling and other expenses.
