India: car safety star rating influence on buying 2023

As the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) is being rolled out by Government of India to address safety concerns, consumers were asked if they would like to know the safety star ratings of the cars while buying them. As per the results of survey conducted in 2023, 72 percent of the respondents stated that safety car ratings were a must have, and four percent of the respondents said that it didn't matter to them.

Respondents were asked the following question: “Government of India is launching a car crash testing program BNCAP which will provide a safety star rating to cars. If you plan to buy a car in the next 3 years, would you want to know the safety star ratings of different cars? "
