As of February 2023, independent hotel brands accounted for the majority of luxury hotels worldwide. Specifically, independent hotels constituted 54 percent of the global luxury hotel supply in 2023. Meanwhile, nine percent of luxury hotel rooms worldwide were managed by the established hotel brand Marriott.
