GRESB benchmark score of the Americas 2021-2023, by component

American companies participating in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) received the highest score for their management practices in 2023. GRESB is an industry-led organization that collects, validates, scores, and benchmarks ESG performance. Within the management component, which stands for a company's adoption of different ESG criteria, the policy metric ranked the highest, with a score of 91.9. Waste management was the strongest metric within the development of existing buildings component. When it comes to the performance of standing investments, companies did best on tenants and community engagement. 

ESG benchmarking has been a growing trend among real estate companies worldwide, with the number of companies participating in GRESB benchmark increasing year-on-year since 2013.
