Opinions on the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria 2023, by age
The majority of respondents in almost every age group in Nigeria reported that they approved of the fuel subsidy removal decision taken by the Nigerian federal government, according to a survey in 2023. The only exception was respondents between 18 and 35 years old, with their opinions being split in half. On the other hand, 58 percent of respondents, 61 years old and above, approved of the government's decision, while 42 percent reported that they were against it. According to the source, this decision was taken by the government to lighten its economic burdens, as the cost of maintaining the fuel subsidy has increased over the years.
