According to a survey conducted in 2023, 22 percent of respondents suggested "[increasing] minimum wage and spending" as a method to reduce the ripple effect caused by the Nigerian federal government's decision of removing the fuel subsidy. On the other hand, 16 percent made suggested that "[the government] should ensure minimum price of fuel". 21 percent reported that they do not know what should be done. According to the source, this decision was taken by the government to lighten its economic burdens, as the cost of maintaining the the fuel subsidy has increased over the years.
