UK: projected fines by car brand based on their share of ZEV registrations 2022-2023
The United Kingdom plans to implement a zero-emissions vehicle mandate starting in 2024, requiring a minimum of 22 percent of car brands' light vehicle sales to be ZEVs, such as battery-electric vehicles. Between October 2022 and September 2023, only eight of the 32 brands selected reported a ZEV share of 22 percent or higher. Of the 24 brands that would incur fines based on their current sales mix, Ford and Toyota are expected to have the steepest amount to pay, at 424 million and 345 million Great British pounds, respectively.
