Get in touch with us nowThe UK's National Health Service categorized the sources of greenhouse gas emissions into three scopes according to the GHG protocol.
In 2018, only seven percent of total greenhouse gas emissions from the healthcare sector in the US were attributed to the first scope, which specifically accounts for direct contributors, and these emissions were solely linked to healthcare operations. The second scope, which translates to indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy, was responsible for a further 11 percent of the total emissions in the form of electricity. All the other identified categories belonged to the third scope, which includes all other indirect emissions.
