The study involved around 200,000 migrant laborers, from 31 provinces, 899 counties and 7,500 villages.

Migrant laborers are defined as being people who leave their place of origin for a period longer than six months in order to find work elsewhere. They either stay in their home province or move to another province in a bid to find employment.
