Preference for tablets vs laptops in the U.S. 2012, by age group Through a survey conducted in Jan/Feb 2012 respondents who owned both a tablet and a laptop were asked which device was more important to them. The responses have been broken down by generation. As can be seen in the graph, older generations tended to favor tablets at a greater rate than younger ones. On the other hand 92 percent of trailing millenials (aged 18 to 22) tended towards laptops over tablets.
