Pension is arranged through an employer, main pension only.
Results for 2005 are based on a new questionnaire and may not be comparable with earlier results. In particular, breakdowns by contracting out status include stakeholder pensions from 2005; before then, they are for occupational pension schemes and group personal pension schemes only.
In 2011 ASHE replaced the Standard Occupational Classification 2000 (SOC 2000) with the Standard Occupational Classification 2010 (SOC 2010). The change to SOC 2010 has affected the survey weighting. Rounded to the nearest percentage, the proportions in this table are the same whether the estimates are calculated on the old or new SOC basis.
For 2012, ASHE respondents provided information in respect of the pay period that included 18 April. The returned data did not reflect the Pensions Act 2007 change to defined contribution contracting out. That is, results showed roughly the same proportion of employees in the contracting out defined contribution category in 2012 as in 2011.
