In 2022, the early-stage entrepreneurial activity rate in Guatemala was 29.4 percent, making it the country in the Americas with the highest share of its adult population involved in business start-ups among the countries depicted. The rate was lowest in Mexico, with only 12.9 percent of the adult population involved in the early stage of a start-up in 2022.
An economy’s total early-stage entrepreneurial activity (TEA) rate is defined as the prevalence rate of individuals in the working age population who are actively involved in business startups, either in the phase in advance of the birth of the firm, or the phase spanning 42 months after the birth of the firm.
