In the three months to March 2022, there were around 2.72 million self-employed males, and just under 1.5 million self-employed females in the United Kingdom. During this provided time period, the number of self-employed males reached a peak in September 2019, at 3.3 million, while for female workers, the peak was 1.7 million, reached just prior to the Coronavirus pandemic.
