
Expansion of diamond production mines globally 2014
This statistic displays the expansion of selected diamond producing mines worldwide of at least one million carats added annually, as of 2014. The Marange mine in Zimbabwe added is expected to add an average of 4 million carats of rough diamonds annually. The diamond industry, unlike other precious metals and natural resources, relies almost exclusively on consumer demand for diamond jewelry. The diamond industry is expected to flourish despite weak global economic growth.
