Scotland: life expectancy 2000-2017

This statistic shows the life expectancy at birth in Scotland in 2000 to 2017, by gender. Throughout this time period, the life expectancy for women was longer than that for men, although the gap has narrowed from 5.5 years in 2000-2002 to 4.1 years in 2011-2013. Life expectancy for both genders showed year on year growth for most of this time period, before starting to plateau in 2013-2015 and then declining slightly in 2015-2017.
