Cement production in Brazil 2014-2022
From January to March 2022, cement production in Brazil reached almost 15 million metric tons. If during the rest of that year cement continued to be produced at similar levels, the production in 2022 would be significantly lower than that of the previous year. There was a period of growth between 2018 and 2021, which came after cement production in Brazil saw a continual decline between 2014 and 2018, with a drop of more than 26 percent in the period. The Brazilian construction industry, one of the main consumer markets for cement, faced turmoil in the past decade, when under an investigation named "Operation Car Wash", employees (including the upper management) of some of the major companies in the sector were charged with corruption and money laundering.
