Edinburgh Castle was the most visited paid attraction in Scotland in 2022. After recording a sharp drop in visits with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, that tourist attraction welcomed around 1.3 million visitors in 2022. While this figure denoted a sharp increase from the previous year, it remained below pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, the National Museum of Scotland was the most visited free attraction in Scotland in 2022.
