Distribution of eating disorder hospitalizations in the U.S. by gender 1999-2009
This statistic displays the estimated distribution of hospitalizations due to eating disorders in the United States between 1999 and 2009, by gender. On average in 2007 and 2008, about 11 percent of patients hospitalized due to eating disorders were male. These conditions contribute to the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder, most notably among anorexia nervosa patients.
