Volkswagen Group: car deliveries by popular model worldwide 2022

VW's historical best-seller, the Golf was dethroned as VW's best-selling model in 2018 when the Polo recorded worldwide deliveries of 835,000 units. Both models were outperformed by the Tiguan model one year on: Volkswagen delivered around 778,000 Tiguans in 2019 and more than 458,000 units in 2022. Model sales overall dipped in 2022, as Volkswagen had to make production cuts due to the global chip shortage.

Volkswagen’s next best-sellers

Volkswagen Group’s top brands are VW (brand), Skoda, and Audi. Other brands owned by the group include Bentley, SEAT and Porsche. Volkswagen’s cars are extremely well-known. Affordable and practical models have made the cars a common sight on roads. VW’s Beetle is among one of the most recognizable models and was one of the best-selling cars of the twentieth century. The Golf’s time as the most popular car on the market will at some point end. The automotive sector is currently being disrupted by automation and electrification. Volkswagen will be determined to remain a dominant manufacturer in the future auto industry. The group announced that production of electric vehicles will take over manufacturing facilities, and the group's sales of electric cars have soared in the recent year. It can be assumed that one of the VW's electric models will be among the most popular cars of the future. The Golf has already been put on the market as an electric model, but more focus is expected to be put on the newly conceptualized ID.5, possibly the future best-seller.
