Cloud computing challenges 2019

As of January 2019, surveyed technical executives, managers, and practitioners of cloud technologies from around the world indicated that the biggest challenges of using cloud computing technology within their organizations were related to governance and lack of resources/expertise. Around 25 percent of respondents found governance to be a significant challenge, while another 54 percent found it to be somewhat of a challenge. Other commonly cited challenges included security, compliance, and cloud management.

Cloud computing

Cloud computing is a technology that allows both private customers and organizations of all sizes to take advantage of advanced computing and data storage resources without the need to personally manage hardware themselves. Large data centers rent space and processing power to numerous clients and provide companies with flexibility and scalability which would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to manage. The global public cloud computing services market will bring in revenues of over 200 billion dollars in 2019, and forecasts suggest it could eclipse 300 billion by 2022. There are a variety of different cloud models in use around the world: public clouds that rent resources to multiple customers through the internet, within-enterprise private clouds, and hybrid clouds that incorporate elements of both. The most commonly employed cloud strategy among small to medium sized businesses is the hybrid cloud, which accounts for around 35 percent of these organizations as of 2019.
