The source provides the following information on the calculation of the revenue: The distribution key of national media earnings still includes elements of the Fünf-Jahres-Wertung (five year evalution; bar “stock”). In accordance with a four bar system however other paramenters were taken into account. Long-time contribution to the development of the Bundesliga and second league are honoured according to the bar “sport sustainability” along with a 20-year consideration. The bar “youth development” rewards U23- players for the first time. Lastly the bar “competition” is meant to promote the appeal of the different regions each.
