Total assets of the banking sector in Spain 2002-2016
This statistic illustrates the value development of assets (financial assets when available, otherwise total assets) for all banking institutions in Spain from 2002 to 2016. It can be seen that the total assets of Spanish banking corporations increased overall during this period, from a value of over 1.3 trillion U.S. dollars in 2002 to a total value of almost 2.66 trillion U.S. dollars as of 2016. Although this was the case, the largest value recorded in the period under observation was found in the year 2009, when banking institutions in Spain held assets totaling more than 4.6 trillion U.S. dollars.
