Number of nights spent by German visitors in the Netherlands 2008-2020
The number of nights spent in the Netherlands by German visitors increased steadily from 2008 to 2019. In 2008, German visitors spent over 9.67 million nights in the Netherlands, whereas in 2019 the number of nights German visitors spent in the Netherlands had almost doubled, to approximately 21.58 million nights. Nevertheless, figures experienced a significant decrease in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Travel restrictions to stop the spread of the virus led to a slowdown in tourist consumption. German tourists spent around 12 million overnight stays in the Netherlands that year.
