In this year approximately 3.3 thousand individuals died as a result of cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, cancer, injuries and poisonings. Ischaemic heart disease was the leading cause of death among individuals in Malta with 337 women and 352 men dying from the disease. Respiratory disease was the country's second biggest killer.
