Number of Orange 4G customers in France from 2014 to 2016 (in millions)

Orange: number of 4G customers in France 2014-2016 This statistic illustrates the evolution of the number of customers with a 4G Orange plan in France from 2014 to 2016. The French telecommunications operator had less than four million broadband subscribers in 2014, but this number tripled during this period, reaching 11.3 million subscribers to 4G in 2016. Data provided by Orange reveal that more and more smartphone users are accessing the Internet on the move and thus require a speed of mobile Internet connection stable and efficient. The 4G (fourth generation of mobile telephony standards), which allows to transmit and send data at a rate higher than that of the previous generation (3G), opened the way to new uses such as streaming on the move from a mobile (for example via the Periscope application). Conversely, the evolution of mobile telephony standards is motivated by the new needs of users that 4G can sometimes not fully satisfy. This will logically lead to the arrival of 5G.
