The mobility rate in Italy was severely affected in 2020 in all the macro-regions, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the same year, the macro-region with the highest mobility rate was the central region, with almost 72 percent of people making at least one trip on a weekday. The central macro-region includes the regions of Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, and Umbria, with its major city being Rome.
