It shows that F1 stores had the largest average turnover per square meter. As of 2016, the average turnover per square meter of F1 stores amounted to roughly 10,000 euros. F3 stores, on the other hand, had an average turnover per square meter of only 1,632 euros.

F1: Large distribution/hypermarket: Carrefour Hyper, Carrefour Market, Carrefour Market by Mestdagh, Colruyt, Delhaize Supermarket, Match and Cora.
F2: Average size distribution supermarkets: Carrefour Market (Franchise), Spar Retail (Retail Partners Colruyt Group), Okay, AD Delhaize, Proxy Delhaize, Intermarché, Smatch and other supermarkets from 400m². It excludes hypermarkets and hard discounters, such as Aldi and Lidl.
Hard discount: Lidl and Aldi.
F3: Small distribution: All self service shops with a selling surface of less than 400m² (e.g. Spar (Retail Partners Colruyt Group), Carrefour Express, Supra et Spar (Lambrechts), Louis Delhaize (Louis Delhaize Group) not included above), and all shops with a “traditional service” (e.g. night-shops”).
