Between 2020 and 2021, about 44.1 percent of individuals aged 50 to 69 years in Italy underwent colorectal cancer screening. This statistic highlights regional variations in this figure. It is possible to note a considerable geographical difference between the North and South of the country. As a matter of fact, in Northern regions, about 68 percent of residents underwent such screening, while the average in Southern regions was around 26.5 percent. In Calabria, the prevalence rate of colorectal tests was as low as 10.4 percent.
