During this five year period it can be seen that the majority of funds raised were in venture stage, in either the early or late stages of the companies lives. The value of funds raised in the venture stage peaked in 2016 at 5.8 billion euros, whilst in that same year only 400 million euros was invested in companies in the later stage of their lives.
