From 2006 to 2017 in Australia the number of people with diabetes type 1 was on an increasing trend, with 2,742 people diagnosed with the disease in 2017. Despite this overall increase in instances of type 1 diabetes, the years 2009, 2012, and 2016 recorded a reduction in diagnosed cases on the previous year.
