Average number of bank customers per branch in European 2017, by country This statistic illustrates the average number of customers per branch in select European countries in 2017. By using data to calculate the number of individuals over the age of 15 years that have a bank account in each country included and dividing this by the number of bank branches during the same time period, Statista estimates that France, Spain and Italy in 2017 had the lowest average number of customers per bank branch. Estonia on the other hand, which had a total of 74 bank branches in 2017 for a banking population of nearly 1.1 million individuals meant that each branch catered for the financial needs of over 14.5 thousand.
