Leading M&A industries worldwide 1985-2018, by share of deal value This statistic illustrates the share of merger and acquisition (M&A) deal value worldwide, from 1985 to 2018, by largest industries. According to data provided by the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (IMAA) the share of deal value in the energy and power industry has fluctuated significantly during the period observed. In 1985 the share of M&A deal value in the energy and power industry amounted to 19.2 percent, by 1995 this had fallen to 9.9 percent, thereafter the share of deal value increased to a peak in 2010 at 19.8 percent.
