Italy: prescriptions among patients suffering from diabetes 2016, by region This statistic depicts the share of patients suffering from type II diabetes who were prescribed drugs in Italy in 2016, by region. According to data, the region with the largest share of patients who got a medicine prescription for their condition was Sicily (31.1 percent), followed by Calabria and Apulia with 30.5 and 28.2 percent, respectively. By contrast, Emilia-Romagna and Trentino-South Tyrol registered the lowest share with 18.4 and 19 percent, respectively.
