Carnival in Rio de Janeiro: hotel occupancy rate 2015-2021

In 2020, the average hotel occupancy in Rio de Janeiro during the Brazilian Carnival reached its highest rate since 2016. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the city authorities to cancel this event in 2021. For that reason, hotels in Rio de Janeiro could expect an occupancy rate of around 65 percent during those holidays in February of that year, the lowest rate since mid-2010s.
