Carnival is the most important touristic and cultural event of the year in Brazil. Taking place in February or the beginning of March, these festivities demand an unparalleled level of preparation, particularly the carnival parade. Consequently, festival articles produced domestically or abroad are acquired throughout the season. In terms of foreign trade, Brazil is mainly an importing country of festival, carnival and entertainment articles. In 2023, Brazil's imports of this type of items exceeded its exports by nearly 48 million U.S. dollars. The segment's foreign trade balance has been negative for Brazil at least since 2015.
