As of September 2023, the manufacturing sector represented the largest share of companies at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, accounting for 1,455 companies at the bourse. To attract upcoming start-ups, the stock exchange established the STAR 50 Market in 2019. The trading board has lower listing requirements which help young companies gain access to the capital market and thereby facilitate their growth.
