It helps to perform, accelerate and simplify basic business tasks and host higher-level application software on infrastructure hardware, but can also be used privately. Common examples are security software, operating system software and system management software as well as network and storage software.
System Infrastructure Software can be provided in one of two ways: on-premises software is sold via a transactional license or as a subscription, and cloud-based software (software as a service / SaaS) is most often sold as a subscription.
