In 2021 the number of people who were employed by the United States uranium mining industry amounted to 207 workers. That was a large decrease from the 1,563 U.S. uranium mining employees in 2008.
The number of operational uranium mines in the United States has declined considerably since 2009, when there was a peak of 20 operating uranium mines. As of 2021 only three uranium mines were operating in the U.S., and the number of people employed in this industry has declined accordingly.
