In 2021, pencillins (excluding inhibitors) were the antibiotic group with the highest consumption in England. The defined daily dosage of these penicillins amounted to approximately 4.8 per 1,000 population. Tetracyclines had the second highest consumption in this year with a DDD of some 4.3 per 1,000 population.
