Maternal mortality ratio India 2015-2017 by state

From 2015 to 2017, the north-eastern state of Assam in India had the highest maternal mortality ratio at 229 deaths per 100,000 women, whereas, Kerala had the lowest mortality ratio with 42 fatalities during pregnancy. Maternal mortality ratio is the number of women who die from pregnancy-related causes while pregnant or within 42 days of pregnancy termination. This is derived as the proportion of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births reported under the Sample Registration System of India.
