Latin America: share of livestock breeds at risk of extinction 2019

In Latin America, up to seven percent of local livestock breeds were classified as being at risk of extinction as of July 2019. Local livestock breeds are breeds occurring in only one country. Maintaining the genetic diversity of farmed and domesticated animals is one of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
