This graph shows the number of judicial investigations referred to the Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale (IGPN) in France from 2016 to 2021. Thus, the number of investigations opened by the "police of the police forces" reached its highest level in 2019, with a total of 1,460 investigations, among which many were linked to the Yellow Vests movement.

The Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale (IGPN) is the service with national competence in charge of the control of the departments and services of the Direction générale de la Police Nationale (DGPN) and of Préfecture de police in France.
