Civil court cases: annual cases by type in Ontario 2022

In the fiscal year of 2021/22, there were 359,951 active civil court cases in Ontario, Canada. Of these, 163,739 were initiated in that year, while 164,903 had a court event that disposed all or part of the case (such as a settlement or judgement).

Values include data on civil court events and cases at both the superior and provincial-territorial court levels. Appeal courts, federal courts (for example, Tax Court of Canada) and the Supreme Court of Canada are not included.
The fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31 each year.
