Leading reasons for choice of housing in Denmark 2018, by city size
For Danes living in rural areas, as well as in small- and medium-sized towns, being close to nature was the primary reason for their choice of housing in 2018. This was the case for 49.7 percent of the respondents living in rural areas and for 36.2 percent of the respondents living in medium-sized cities. Contrastingly, it was more important for people who lived in bigger towns to be close to the city. Here, 44.7 percent of the respondents living in large towns found that this was the major reason for their choice of housing.
