Distribution of Italians who emigrated in the last year 2019, by macro-region

As of January 2019, 28 percent of all Italians who emigrated abroad in the last year were originally from North-West Italy. People from the Southern regions made up 19 percent of the total, whereas 17.6 percent came from Central Italy.
However, data about the single regions of Italy show that the largest number of Italian living abroad came from Sicily and Campania, two Southern regions.
Data refer to the Italians reported in the Registry of Italians Resident Abroad (A.I.R.E.).
